Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems Sector organization is seeking applicants for a position on the Sustainment and Modernization of Radar Sensors (SMORS) program as a Configuration Management Analyst 2 or 3. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Planning and coordinating preparation of project documentation, such as engineering documentation and drawings, subcontractor specifications and schedules, and contract modifications, to ensure customer contract requirements are met.

  • Reviewing contract to determine documentation required for each phase of project, applying knowledge of engineering and manufacturing processes.

  • Analyzing proposed changes of product design to determine effect on overall product and system.

  • Coordinating modification records for management control.

  • Establishing change orders and preparing for change authorization and documentation by internal organizations and subcontractors.

  • Reviewing and analyzing released engineering change data and coordinates changes with engineering, quality, support, manufacturing, and engineering data control activities.

  • Perform many of the day-to-day tasks as well as providing direction for the CM/DM team

  • Flow-down technical tasking / vision of Program Management and Director of Engineer; reporting directly to the Director of Engineer

  • Establish milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules, identify program problems and obtain solutions to include allocation of resources

  • Prioritize requests and communicate schedule to all stakeholders including customers

  • Collaborate with other team leads in functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications

  • Administer all CM tools; utilizing SBM Composer, Administrator, Application Repository, Development and Production side in workflow management

  • Perform baseline (product) management, hardware release and replication management, configuration item identification, software builds, and configuration audits

  • Analyze external CM standards and requirements

  • Control configuration items, product traceability matrices, documents, and software media, CM records, and software libraries.• Verify installation procedures and document software version descriptions.• Perform change management and status identification.

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.


This position will be filled at either a level 2 or a level 3.

Basic Qualifications:

  • For a level 2, a Bachelors degree with 3 years of Configuration Management experience, or 1 year with a Masters, or 4 years experience in lieu of a degree

  • For a level 3, a Bachelors degree with 6 years of Configuration Management experience, or 4 years with a Masters, or 10 years experience in lieu of a degree

  • Candidate must have 5 years experience working as a Quality Engineer with an extensive knowledge of software / hardware configuration, data and change management principles and proficiency in the use of company standard configuration management tools

  • Experience with workflow process tools

  • Self-motivated and able to effectively work with all levels of the organization

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficient in Windows, MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Serena Business Manager is a plus.

  • Knowledge of software / hardware configuration, data and change management principles and proficiency in the use of configuration management tools

  • Experience with software CM tools and software management to include baseline management and auditing
