What You'll Do

The Cherwell Sr. Systems Administrator performs the installation, configuration, administration, and maintenance of all network and computer systems within Cherwell's Corporate IT environment and Customer Hosting Environments. The right person for this position is expected to be able to act in an Senior Operational role for a broad range of technologies such as Microsoft's Active Directory, Group Policy Management, VMware (ESXi, vSphere/VCenter, VROPS), TCP/IP Networking, Microsoft SQL Server, file services, NTFS permissions, backups, Firewalls, restores, systems monitoring, maintenance, and documentation. In addition, the Candidate must have some level of Cloud Operations Experience with a major Cloud Service Provider (AWS, Microsoft Azure, IBM, Google, etc) Candidate must have an understanding & experience with supporting IaaS, PaaS and SaaS in either a physical or virtual environment. The expectations are that they will perform the following:

  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot problems on Networks (LAN/WAN) and Systems.

  • Administer multiple virtual environments and Infrastructure from a systems and networking perspective.

  • Diagnose hardware and software problems and replace defective components

  • Monitor, patch and maintain all IT Systems

  • Create and maintain system documentation

  • May perform some programming and script writing; Powershell knowledge is a plus

  • System Engineering including design, implementation and deployment

  • Function as a Tier 1, 2 & 3 Support for all environments.

  • Serve as a mentor for junior staff and educate and train other members of the team

  • Provide support for our internal and external customers worldwide

  • Participate in on-call rotation

What You Should Have

  • The preferred candidate will have a minimum of a four year degree in a technology related field. If the candidate does not have a four year degree, then a suitable equivalent would be any of the following:

  • 2 year degree plus 2 years demonstrated experience.

  • 5 or more years of demonstrated IT experience in the areas of system administration, system design, support, and server management.

  • Working Knowledge of Windows Server, MSSQL, Active Directory, LDAP, SCCM, GPO, VMware ESXi & VSphere/VCenter

  • TCP/IP Networking, Cisco Switch Administration, Palo Alto Firewalls

  • SAN Experience with NetApp or Kaminario or other related SANs

  • Superb analytical skills and Excellent troubleshooting skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of IT systems/data security.
