The following position is contingent upon having and retaining a Secret security clearance. Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen.

We are seeking a Technical Operations Specialist to support the 50th Space Communications Squadron (50 SCS) in Colorado Springs, CO. The 50 SCS provides command and control systems supporting $50 billion in national satellite and terrestrial systems for the President, United States of America, allied and coalition forces. The squadron operates and maintains communications-computer systems establishing real-time global connectivity to more than 150 satellites comprising the Global Positioning System, Defense Meteorological Satellite Program, Defense Satellite Program, Defense Satellite Communications System, Milstar, Fleet Satellite Communications System, Ultra High Frequency Follow-On System, North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Defense Advanced Research Program Agency and test system satellites through the $6.2 billion Air Force Satellite Control Network.

This position is responsible for providing 24x7 help desk support to a government agency user community. Areas of responsibility include, but not limited to, monitoring Juniper Networks routers, Circuit-to-Packet (CTP) devices, and Cisco SONET trunks and circuits, as well as responding to user calls for hardware support and network support across multiple USAF Space Command Digital Interface Network (SDIN) facilities and locations.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to work in fast paced, rapidly changing environment and a strong desire to learn.

  • Answer user calls to provide support and troubleshooting of user channel issues related to their mission as related to the transport of their data.

  • Develop documentation used to assist in troubleshooting user issues.

  • Provide a professional and friendly interface for transport issues to users.

  • Team player required: must be able to interact with peers, management, and senior engineers in a constantly evolving Level II Service Desk environment to ensure a positive customer experience and atmosphere in the workplace.

  • Lead customers and other support agencies through SDIN diagnostic procedures to determine source of error, document and resolve or properly prioritize the incident/request based on impact and urgency and escalate internal customers’ incidents in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Must have fundamental knowledge of circuits, trunks, LAN and WAN networking, and TCP/IP.

  • Must be comfortable working with Microsoft series of operating systems.

  • Creates, updates and closes out SDIN outage tickets.

  • ·Fundamental understanding of Windows operating system, Outlook, MS Office applications and general inter-networking knowledge. Experience with Juniper CTP-View and Cisco Circuit Transport Manager and Controller (CTM and CTC) software beneficial.

Minimum Position Requirements: Previous experience (2 to 3 years) in a network help desk or Network Operations Center (NOC) position. Experience should include troubleshooting network devices and utilizing ticketing applications. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written and verbal form. Additional industry certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, JNCIA-Junos are preferred.


High school diploma.


Must have an active DoD Secret clearance. Must have a Security+, or higher certification for IAT-II designation
